Eric Jensen joined the Partnership for Youth Development in January 2009 as the Director of Youth Engagement. Eric’s primary goal as Youth Projects Director is to facilitate the citywide, youth-led mapping project. As the leader of the mapping project, Eric trains and facilitates teams of youth in New Orleans to collect data on available resources in their communities. This information is converted into a live web-based resource guide for the public. Prior to working for the Partnership for Youth Development, Eric focused on youth development with the dropout prevention agency, Communities In Schools of New Orleans. As a Site Coordinator, he focused on the design and implementation of several youth leadership initiatives with local high schools. He is also a founding member of the nationally based Young Planners Network, and currently sits on their steering committee. Eric arrived in New Orleans in 2003 through the Teach For America program where he taught social studies at both Booker T. Washington and Sarah T. Reed high schools. Eric is a graduate of Michigan State University where he earned a B.A. in Political Science.
